The new Polish president could become a decisive enabler or disruptor of the ruling coalition’s political promises. Reforms on the rule of law, Polish climate policy and Poland’s future relations with the EU are likely to hang in the balance. In the coming months, Poland will be consumed by a political contest between the ruling coalition’s candidate and the contender backed by Law and Justice. All this will be unfolding amidst growing uncertainty surrounding Trump’s presidency, the ongoing war in Ukraine and the resurgence of far-right forces across the EU.
