9 April 2025
10 April 2025
The first round of Poland’s presidential elections will take place on 18 May. What do we already know about the electoral dynamics? Who is supporting the three leading candidates? What are the chances that Sławomir Mentzen, the far-right underdog, overtakes the PiS candidate?
As Poland heads toward its presidential elections, Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski (Civic Coalition) leads the polls with around a third of voters supporting him, but the race is far from settled.
Sławomir Mentzen of Konfederacja is emerging as a disruptive force, mobilising support well beyond his far-right base and challenging the traditional political order. Meanwhile, PiS candidate Karol Nawocki faces a new kind of competition on the right.
