William Goodhind from Contested Ground gives an insight into democratisation of data, satellite technology and how this and other forms of technology will only become more important as the War in Ukraine reaches a pivotal stage.
Staś Kaleta: Tell me more about yourself before we get onto the topic of Ukraine. How did you get into the sphere of humanitarian, international affairs?
William Goodhind: At present, I’m an imagery analyst and investigator. But previously I worked for the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine. I patrolled throughout the Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts in eastern Ukraine, where I was on the ground talking to people, recording ceasefire violations and following up on incidents. I was there up until 2017 and returned to the mission in 2020, right up until the outbreak of war in February 2022.
