The way forward is clear: Civil society must speak out clearly, and the organizers of the conference must be alert to efforts by any government to hold the floor in a process where they were only supposed to come and listen.

Recently, a network of European think tanks with the participation of, among others Visegrad Insight presented a report on the scenarios for the future of the EU until 2030 under conditions of war in Ukraine. One conclusion of experts is very disturbing – the Central European elites may not be able to use the window of opportunity related to the geopolitical situation, Brexit and the weakening of the political position of Germany, due to their political weakness and populism, especially in Poland.
