Join our discussion with Péter Balázs, former Foreign Minister of Hungary, Thomas Hagleitner, DG NEAR, European Commission, and Marianna Neupauerová, Deputy Executive Director, International Visegrad Fund, on the future of Western Balkans. Doris Pack, President of the Robert Schuman Institute and former EP Foreign Affairs Committee’s rapporteur on Western Balkans, will provide opening remarks. The discussion will be moderated by Tetiana Poliak-Grujić, Visegrad Insight’s EU Neighbourhood Programme Manager.
The discussion will revolve around the newest Visegrad Insight’s “Western Balkans Scenarios 2030 Report” (to be published beginning of March 2022) that outlines potential scenarios for the region, as well as offers recommendations on how to approach them. Spasimir Domaradzki, Lecturer at the University of Warsaw and Visegrad Insight Fellow will present the publication.
The event is expected to last 60 minutes. The on-the-record discussion will be followed by the off-the-record Q&A session.

Speakers:
Péter Balázs is a Hungarian politician and former Foreign Minister of Hungary. He also served as the European Commissioner for the Regional Policy. Currently, Mr. Balázs is the Director of the Center for European Neighborhood Studies at CEU.
Spasimir Domaradzki is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies of the University of Warsaw and Visegrad Insight Fellow. His research, in particular, focuses on the European enlargement policy and its impact on the countries of CEE and Western Balkans. Spasimir holds Ph.D. in Political Sciences.
Thomas Hagleitner has been dealing with the EU enlargement policy and notably the Western Balkans for 15 years. In particular, Mr Hagleitner dealt with the Croatian accession process, as well as the accession negotiations with Montenegro. He is now Head of Unit for Western Balkans Policy and Regional Strategy.
Marianna Neupauerová currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director of the International Visegrad Fund. Prior to that she was involved at different positions in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
Doris Pack is a German politician, President of EPP Women, President of the Robert Schuman Institute and former Member of the European Parliament 1989–2014 and and EP Foreign Affairs Committee’s rapporteur on Western Balkans.

Tetiana Poliak-Grujić is Visegrad Insight’s Programme Manager for EU Neighbourhood. Tetiana holds a Master in European Integration diploma from Belgrade University and her thesis focused on the status of political rights in the Eastern Partnership countries. She also has degrees in Law and Business Administration.
