On 30 September 2024, together with the Prague Security Studies Institute, we organised an expert discussion around our latest report on disinformation in Poland.
How is disinformation being used in Central and Eastern Europe? This was the topic of our most recent event, organised around our report, Disinformation in Poland: Profiting from Loopholes and Regulatory Gaps.
In 2023, the global digital advertising market reached a staggering €625 billion value, driven by a business model that rewards engagement above all else. This model turns incendiary and misleading content into lucrative assets, as each click, share and comment translates into advertising revenue, said the author of the report.
During the discussion, we explored various disinformation techniques and highlighted recommendations for policymakers that will enable effective ways to combat disinformation.
W also articulated practices that are present in the Czech and Polish media landscapes, and specific actors who can be identified as responsible for spreading disinformation.
