Wojciech Przybylski sat down with Péter Krekó the day before the Visegrád Group (V4) summit in Hungary. They discussed the prospects, differences and opportunities that may shape cooperation in the years to come.
This interview is drawn from the Visegrad Insight podcast recorded on 22 June 2026, the day before the summit, in which Péter Krekó of the Political Capital Institute explains what is driving the comeback, where Warsaw and Budapest still diverge and which countries might join an enlarged V4.
Our conversation with Krekó has affirmed several key positions later specified in the official joint statement after the event:
Prime Minister (PM) Péter Magyar, only recently in office, hosted Donald Tusk and his Czech and Slovak counterparts in Budapest, the first Visegrad summit. When Krekó and Przybylski spoke the day before, connecting Warsaw to Budapest over a video link while a heatwave pushed both capitals past 30 degrees, the revival still had the feel of a rumour that few of us quite believed.
