The increase in support for the National Rally in France’s European Parliament elections prompted Emmanuel Macron to dissolve the National Assembly. The first round of the accelerated elections will take place on  30 June.

Speakers:

  • Paul Taylor – Freelance columnist for The Guardian and a senior visiting fellow at the European Policy Centre. He was previously a contributing editor at POLITICO and European Affairs Editor with Reuters.
  • Isabelle Lasserre – Diplomatic Correspondent of Le Figaro. She has previously served as the Defense Correspondent, the Correspondent in Russia, and a War Reporter in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan for the same newspaper. She also contributes to Politique Internationale, the leading European review dedicated to foreign affairs in French. Her latest book, Macron – Putin, the Dangerous Relationship (L’Observatoire), was published last April.

The discussion will be moderated by Wojciech Przybylski, Editor-in-Chief of Visegrad Insight.
