Europe’s Democratic Resilience in the Era of US–China Confrontation

Recap of the Visegrad Insight roundtable discussion on Friday, 23 January

23 January 2026

On Friday morning, at our premises, together with Łukasiewicz – ITECH Instytut of Innovation and Technology, we hosted a roundtable discussion with a special guest, MEP Bernard Guetta.

On 23 January, we hosted an esteemed group of embassy representatives, experts, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and journalists for a closed roundtable discussion, featuring French MEP Bernard Guetta as our special guest.

Attention was given to European unity prior to the upcoming EU elections, with the Hungarian elections in April identified as an early test. The particular emphasis was put on the decisive role of the Polish and French parliamentary and presidential elections in 2027 for the future of European democracy and security.

The discussion addressed Europe’s strategic position amid a rapidly evolving global environment and the challenges lying ahead, highlighting the necessity of effective coordination and forward-looking policy approaches to preserve stability and democratic continuity.
