Poland First Meets America First. What about the Rest of Central Europe?

Tarassis. Quadriga. Iron Defender. Several large-scale, military exercises are now taking place in Poland and the Baltics. While the Financial Times alarms about US plans to cut their Baltic Security Initiative, EU and NATO countries showcase their strength.
Allied exercises come at an important time, as Russia launches the active phase of its joint Zapad military drills with Belarus. Despite their limited scope, Russia is likely to signal its preparedness for a broader, prolonged conflict. Meanwhile, the latest Eurobarometer survey indicates that security is seen as the primary benefit of EU membership, except in southeastern European countries.
Poland in particular is looking to deepen relations with its northern European partners. Today, President Karol Nawrocki will meet President Gitanas Nausėda in Vilnius, before travelling to Helsinki, where he is to meet with President Alexander Stubb on Tuesday.
