Amid a political shift to the right and a growing focus on defending the Union, Europe seems to be turning its gaze inward, risking irrelevance to the rest of the world.
Europe’s failure to act decisively in the face of the escalating Israeli–Palestinian conflict – now spilling into the broader Middle East with Israeli ground incursions into Lebanon and Iranian missile strikes – is another telling sign of the continent’s diminishing influence on the global stage.
Instead of rising to meet these challenges, the EU appears increasingly focused inward. This inward turn, driven by right-wing political shifts and mounting security concerns, risks rendering Europe even more irrelevant on the global stage.
