Speakers:

Alicja Bachulska is a policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, based in ECFR’s Warsaw office. Prior to joining ECFR, she worked for over six years as a China analyst at the Asia Research Centre, a think-tank based at the War Studies University in Warsaw. Since 2019, she has been part of MapInfluenCE, an international project researching Chinese and Russian influence in the V4 region.

Marcin Jerzewski is a Marcin Król Fellow, Autumn 2024. He is the Head of the Taiwan Office of the European Values Center for Security Policy. He also serves as an analyst contributing to the Center’s research on Taiwan and the broader Indo-Pacific region. Concurrently, he is also a contributor to the China Observers in Central Eastern Europe (CHOICE) platform of the Association for International Affairs (AMO).

Matej Šimalčík is a Marcin Król Fellow 2024 at Visegrad Insight.  He is the Executive Director of the Central European Institute of Asian Studies, a think tank that focuses on foreign and security policy issues related to East Asia. Matej’s research looks at China’s economic and political presence and influence in Central Europe, elite relations, corrosive capital, and the role of European legal instruments in mitigating risks posed by China.
