- NATO Summit in Vilnius will offer a “pathway” for Ukraine’s membership and offer Israeli-style security guarantees, according to US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Read more on the security guarantees here
- Yevgeny Prigozhin remains inside Russia along with thousands of his Wagner mercenaries, the Institute for the Study of War reported. Telegram channels through which the Wagner group recruits more men into its ranks also remain active.
- June 2023 is the hottest June in three decades. This year’s June temperatures globally were 0.5 degrees Celsius (0.9 degrees Fahrenheit) above the average June temperatures in years 1991-2020, EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service reported.
- This week will have three important anniversaries that may be used in disinformation channels. 10 July marks the Jedwabne pogrom massacre of Polish Jews, and 11 July is the anniversary of the Volhynia (Wolyn) massacre. Zelenskyy honoured Poles killed by Ukrainians in the WW2 Volhynia massacre over the weekend, but expect other official UA-PL ceremonies on 11 July with potential disruptive acts possible. The Srebrenica massacre, where 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed in a genocide, is also marked on 11 July, coinciding with the first day of the NATO summit.
