EU Focus on Security in Gdansk. Rutte Urges War Readiness

After pupils return to schools, a likely COVID-19 surge could sweep across the region exacerbated by a lacklustre vaccine rollout, and the Zapad military exercise will see Belarus teaming up with Russia and many other states in a strong show of force. A number of (potential) elections are leaning towards maintaining the status quo while crises involving the pandemic and border incursions could be utilised for domestic political purposes.
