Since the beginning of January, the Hungarian opposition is once again in action. Parliamentary obstruction, street rallies with colourful smoke bombs and overnight protests at the Hungarian State Television have all continued.
The December events do show the radicalisation of the opposition groups without any question. However, do these events mark a new stage for opposition activity against the regime of Viktor Orbán?
Growing discontent
Since last April, when Viktor Orbán secured his third supermajority in the parliamentary elections, Hungarian opposition parties became perplexed and many of their voters turned away from politics with outrage and depression.
