Bulgaria’s electricity grid is ready for the energy transition. Its institutions are not. Can civil society take the lead?

One of the few things left to Bulgaria from the past that Bulgarians could be proud of was the energy system, which had everything necessary: sufficient generation capacity with good geographical distribution, the country’s own resources (coal), a diverse technology mix, a good grid and relatively new control technologies.
