Trump-Xi Jinping Talk Of New Era Favouring Great Powers

As Russia launched its strongest missile barrage on Kyiv this weekend, Ukraine demands faster accession into the West. On that front, Ukraine-Hungary bilaterals will be in the spotlight this week. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister (FM) Andrii Sybiha called for the opening of all EU accession clusters for Ukraine this June. For that, Budapest’s blessing will be critical, although the EU will first hand the prize to Albania this Tuesday, which has already fulfilled the ‘Fundamentals’ cluster benchmarks.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump promised to raise the delayed US rotational presence in Poland from 4,000 to 5,000 troops, but only after Washington heard the alarm bells from Warsaw – talk of betrayal in a key allied capital and pressure from Republicans at home.
In Hungary, Prime Minister (PM) Péter Magyar is heading to Brussels with a familiar promise – unblock the funds and end the Orbán-era siege mentality.
