One Step for EU, One Giant Leap for Ukraine and Moldova

This week Poland and Ukraine host the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk with a new security track added to the yearly programme. Will it be accompanied by a new air raid on Belarus that Kyiv warned against?
So far Ukrainians were serious about their ultimatums and Minsk got one week to dismantle relay equipment used to guide Russian strikes. To add to the political trouble, Polish President Karol Nawrocki has revoked Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Order of the White Eagle. Kyiv has sent the decoration back via courier.
None of these points toward de-escalation. The wars that matter — apart from Russia-Ukraine, the Middle East after the latest Iran deal, and the latent confrontation over Taiwan — are also not moving toward settlement. Washington has already allowed its waiver on Russian oil sanctions to expire. But it seems clear that such renewed pressure will be calibrated to whatever progress is made in the parallel nuclear talks with Iran.
