The autumn Polish election increasingly seems challenging for the ruling Law & Justice Party. Taking a page from last century’s “Red Scare” in the US, the governing party are looking to adopt legislation targeting the main opposition, and the similarities don’t stop there.

The law addresses the liberties of individuals deemed suspicious by the state and grants Poland’s governing Law & Justice Party (PiS) the powers to reach across the political table and silence those who oppose it.
When public distrust and perceived government vulnerability exist, similar legislation has been passed by those attempting to protect and consolidate power.
