Polish PM Tusk criticises Nord Stream sponsors, telling them to be quiet. As tensions rise, the question looms: Are upcoming elections fuelling the strain between Berlin and Warsaw?
The Nord Stream pipeline incident on 26 September 2022 remains one of the most significant and controversial events in recent geopolitical history. These underwater explosions, which severely damaged the pipelines transporting natural gas from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea, have since become a focal point for a complex web of theories, accusations and denials that continue to unfold even two years after the event. Despite extensive efforts, the responsible parties have not been definitively identified, leading to accusations and denials.
Recent revelations have further complicated the narrative, suggesting that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may have initially approved a plan to sabotage the Nord Stream pipelines, only to later retract the order under CIA pressure. These claims, originating from unnamed Ukrainian officials, suggest deep internal discord within Ukraine’s leadership at the time of the incident.
