While Russian has been Ukraine’s lingua franca for decades, it has now been pushed aside making room for English.
In mid-August, the Ukrainian government announced a bill to grant the English language new status in Ukraine. The draft proposes the status of English as the language of international communications, the expansion of English usage in general, and the mandatory usage of English in public life regarding international communications.
