After years of political deadlock, one of Ukraine’s most sensitive disputes with an EU member state may finally be nearing resolution.
On 15 June 2026 a historic event will take place in Luxembourg. Representatives of Ukraine and all 27 EU member states will hold an intergovernmental conference to open the first cluster in negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
Hungary secured recognition of its long-standing concerns over Hungarian minority rights from Ukraine, while Kyiv incorporated the changes into its EU accession process.
