Europe is finally rearming, but not fast enough. While factories for drones, jets and ammunition are springing up across the continent, structural obstacles still slow production, funding and military expansion. If Europe is to defend itself, five urgent reforms are needed.
A new, state-of-the-art factory operated by the European start-up Helsing began production in February at a secret location ‘somewhere in southern Germany.’ This facility promises to produce thousands of AI-controlled attack drones of its own design.
It is not just a bold claim – Helsing is already manufacturing drones in Ukrainian factories, where they are being deployed in combat.
