Donald Tusk understands that Europe will only be a force if it acts together as one hand and one fist, says Elżbieta Bieńkowska, former EU commissioner and minister in Donald Tusk’s government.

Elżbieta Bieńkowska is currently Chair of the Board of the prestigious Brussels think tank CEPS. She was interviewed by Bartosz Wieliński for Gazeta Wyborcza.

Bartosz T. Wieliński: Donald Tusk, the democratic coalition’s candidate for prime minister, flies to Brussels on Wednesday. How will he be received in the capital of the European Union?

Elżbieta Bieńkowska: I think he will receive an enthusiastic welcome. I still have the election evening in mind. After the results were announced, I got a lot of joyful messages from my colleagues in the EU institutions.
