Russians Go Home, Say Hungarian Voters

Following the US bombing of Iran, Central and Eastern European (CEE) leaders are wary of being drawn into another foreign conflict, reminiscent of the 2003 ‘New Europe’ support for a Republican-led war in Iraq.
Expecting that a possible Iranian retaliation would trigger allied solidarity in some of the Eastern Flank countries, CEE leaders are treading cautiously also to avoid fracturing Europe’s unified stance.

This caution is likely to shape discussions at three key meetings this week: the Foreign Affairs Council today, the NATO Summit in The Hague on 24-25 June and the EU Council Summit on 26-27 June.
