Faith, Nation, Family, and Liberty – these are the main tenets of the “patriotic and conservative” AUR party, a newcomer in Romanian politics that managed to win 9 per cent of the votes in parliamentary elections in December 2020 and has since risen to 17 per cent in recent opinion polls.

Starting from almost zero in September 2020, when they got under 1 per cent of the vote in the local elections, AUR (Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor – Alliance for the Union of Romanians) managed to get a foothold in Parliament only three months later and has since become the most vocal opposition party to the coalition of Social Democrats and Liberals.
