While Czech security agencies warn of Russian influence operations, the bigger challenge may come from within – domestic political actors who amplify conspiracy theories, attack public media and shift mainstream politics further right.
The campaign ahead of Czechia’s autumn parliamentary elections will be targeted by disinformation spread through online platforms and social media, head of Czech counterintelligence BIS, Gen. Michal Koudelka warned in January.
‘Like Romania and Moldova, the Czech Republic is also among the states, which are priority targets of the subversive, influence, information and cyber operations led and coordinated by organs of Russian state power,’ Koudelka stated at a parliament-hosted conference focusing on foreign meddling in Prague.
