NATO’s Future Amid Trump’s Games and Putin’s Nuclear Threat – INTERVIEW

Interview with Rose Gottemoeller

As NATO faces challenges from Trump’s transactional approach and Putin’s nuclear saber-rattling, former Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller discusses the alliance’s future and Romania’s precarious position on the Eastern Flank.

No matter who wins the White House in the fall, NATO and the EU must learn to take care of themselves without the protective umbrella of the United States. That is the message from Rose Gottemoeller, who served as NATO’s deputy secretary general before Mircea Geoană.

Rose Gottemoeller, an expert on the former Soviet space and chief US negotiator for the New START Treaty for the Reduction of Strategic Nuclear Weapons, talks in an interview with Panorama about Donald Trump’s transactional behaviour, Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threat and Russia’s hybrid war against its allies.
