Will the Debate on the Euro Save Central Europe’s EU Future?

The polarisation in Slovak society has led to the jeopardising of regional security.
While the EU and NATO are trying to help Ukraine prevent a Russian invasion of its territory, politicians and state officials in Slovakia are taking advantage of the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) as another battleground for Slovakia’s increasing polarisation.
After a relatively calm Christmas, Slovakia is witnessing a new political crisis — ongoing polarisation that threatens regional defence. As could be expected in a rapidly changing security environment and with an assertive Russian Federation, Slovak representatives decided to join a coalition of nations that already adopted a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the United States. As was expected, the deal came with unjustified controversy.
