Event: How can the EU deliver on democratic security? Brussels, 13 June, 5 PM

Visegrad Insight Event, Brussels

2 June 2022

Mark your calendar for Monday, 13 June, in Brussels and register now to our special foresight event that will reflect on the report from the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) one month after its publication from the CEE perspective.

Together with MEP Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, Colin Scicluna, heading the cabinet of the Vice-President for Democracy and Demography – Dubravka Šuica, Wojtek Talko, member of the Cabinet of Vice-President for Values and Transparency – Vera Jourová, and Wojciech Przybylski, the editor-in-chief of Visegrad Insight, we will discuss the Conference on the Future of Europe and its outcomes a month after they were presented.

The event will bring forward a group of leading CEE civil society influencers (politicians, think tankers, media and business leaders) to map out regional perspectives on the future of Europe, and to  highlight the findings from a larger foresight project generating public debate across the EU focused primarily but not exclusively on the democratic security perspective. Empowering the voices of civil society influencers from CEE in the Conference on the Future of Europe it challenges the image of recalcitrance and limited input associated with the CEE region, by elaborating on structured scenarios and actionable recommendations proposals for Europe.

At the event we will present and debate on draft scenarios produced after extensive scenario-building workshops and consultations with EU policy-influencers and civil society stakeholders. After the official part there will be networking opportunities at a small reception.

Agenda:

17:00-18:15 Findings presentation and panel discussion

18:15-19:30 Reception and networking

The project is carried out in partnership with the Bratislava Policy Institute (Slovakia), Euro Créative (France), European Forum Alpbach (Austria), Fondazione Di Vagno (Italy), Forum2000 (Czechia) and Open Lithuania Foundation (Lithuania). It is co-funded by the European Commission’s Europe for Citizens Programme.
