Leaders Split on the EU Drone Wall – East and West
6 October 2025
With so many options yet so little to choose from, the outcome after polls close on Saturday may define the democratic future or not matter at all.
There are two ways to view the following elections, either everything is on the table or nothing of substance will change.
Everything could be on the table as it is looking like Prime Minister Andrej Babiš’s traditional coalition partner Česká strana sociálně demokratická (Czech Social Democratic party) (ČSSD) will not make the five per cent threshold needed to enter government.
That means that ANO will have no other option — as the Pirates and SPOLU (Together) ruled out coalition formation with ANO — but to form a coalition with either Tomio Okamura’s far-right Svoboda a přímá demokracie (Freedom and Direct Democracy) (SPD) party or the Komunistická strana Čech a Moravy (Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia) (KSČM).
