Russia’s drone strike on Poland was no accident. As Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stressed, the drones ‘did not veer off course’ but deliberately targeted NATO territory. By invoking Article 4 on Wednesday, Warsaw made clear this was a direct and intentional provocation.

The aim of the operation was to shape public sentiment by escalating emotions, polarising public opinion, and systematically undermining trust in state institutions and NATO allied structures.
